What I went through in the cult as a child has hardened me into not believing in God. What I have read on this board of horrible experiences by others has convince me even more that there is no God. It took me a long time to come to this conclusion but I feel at peace with it. Still Totally ADD

The wonder of scientific research
by amicabl inthis has possibly been brought up before however here goes.. constant reference is made by many posters to scientific research as being the only way to prove something factual that would otherwise have to be taken on faith.
there actually seems to be "faith" in scientific findings.. my experience over many years is that most scientific research is fake.
nothing oftencomes of the big announcements made to raise more money.. money, prestige, pride, human error, suppositions etc., are rife amongst the scientific community.. i realise that there have been many advances over hundreds of years but humankind is in a mess, although very different to even a century ago.. the medical profession now has vaccinations for everything, antiviral drugs etc.

I do know one thing if it wasn't for scientific research and the skills of trained doctors my back surgery would not have been possible. I forgot to say Robby the Robot would not have been developed if it was not for scientific research. He was the one that perfectly but the screws to me during my surgery. Still Totally ADD

Biggest impact on humans
by menrov indo not know where to post this but i like to hear your views on what you think had the biggest impact on humans.
for me, 2 things:.
music: every human listens one way or another to music and will likely have some sort of emotion.

Not to be negative but I believe the biggest impact on humans is hatred of one another. The reason I say this is the vast amount of money and human energy spent on killing each other though out history. Just think what this world would look like if all that money and energy was used for making humans life better.
But maybe thats only way mankind could advance was by killing others. I know, I know what a lousy thought. But you did ask. Still Totally ADD

If alcohol was a DF offense
by James Mixon ini guess the question which is the hardest to give up smoking or alcohol.
many folks gave up smoking in the 70's including me but i have known some hard drinking brothers and if consuming any kind of alcohol became a df offense, i wonder.....

Sexual Depredation as a function of male society by men of a Certain Age
by TerryWalstrom ini would like to remind those folks younger than i that it was very few years ago when almost the entire planet earth was run by and for the benefit of men.women have throughout history been the property of men.due to religious restrictions, teachings, and fundamentalist doctrines, women in the largest societies on earth right now (muslim, chinese, n.korean) have almost no human rights at all.next year, in june, women will, for the 1st time, be allowed in arabia to drive---but--only if they are 30 years old or older, and for only a few hours per day!the old testament laws (read through them sometime) are horrifying reflective of prejudice toward gender, bodily cleanliness, guilt-tripping, and anonymity.

After reading this to my wife she said when we was in the Borg many times she was introduced as my wife or bro. W------wife. Never by her name. Some even asked what her name was. I didn't realize I was doing this. I feel like a idiot now for what I was doing.
Remembering movies there was 2 John Wayne pictures with Maureen O'Hair in it were he grabs her, throws her over his knee and spanks her. At the time I saw this I thought it was funny now I don't. Thank you for bringing this out. Still Totally ADD

Since when our elders school 5 days long? When I was in I could hardly stand the 2 day weekend elder school. Maybe the extra days are to teach them how to squeeze more money out of the flock. Still Totally ADD

JWs + Chronic Illness
by Cimarrona ini once asked my dad why, with all the power the wt insists on having so much control over its adherents' lives, they don't provide information about healthy eating habits or, like the adventists, wilderness training.
i mean, the gb encourage people to remain poor, and poverty is known to correlate with health outcomes, particularly those that are diet related.
i'd say most witnesses i knew over the age of 40 were overweight, had high blood pressure, heart problems, gastrointestinal issues, one kind of cancer or another (no doubt a result of eating their feelings if you ask me).

When I was in I often wondered about this issue. As I look back now the only thought I have is a unhealthy person is a person who is easier to control. Fighting illness often makes you feel mentally depressed and that causes you to think more of the Borg doctrine on how Satan is causing your problems and the only hope you have is the new system.
Just think what the Borg would look like if they encourage education and healthy living? It would be on par with the Mormon's. It is funny they have their nose into everything their flock does but not this. Oh I forgot don't have a blood transfusion. Thank you Cimarrona for this thread. Still Totally ADD

Just Bumped Into My JW Sister And Brother In Town
by pale.emperor inso im walking through town today on my lunchbreak and spot the unmistakable walk of my younger brother.
this is the one who left watchtower... well it turns out he's returned to the vomit after stupidly turning up to the 2017 convention and a few elders filling his head with seeing our dead dad in paradise and to "wait on jehovah".. a few meters behind him was my sister.
she spotted me first, then hurried up her step to my brother.

Why "fancy dress" and "theme weddings" were BANNED by our Congregation!

Use a Bible theme like dressing up in burned or tattered clothing with red paint splatter on it to represent blood. Then you can lay on the floor in all kinds of horrible position's showing what it will look like after Armageddon. To make it more realistic get some fat stuffed birds. Showing them pecking out someone's eye's. If anyone complains just tell them we are enacting a scene you saw in one of their publication. Still Totally ADD
